About Hirst Transmission Specialists in Pensacola, FL and the Surrounding Areas

The Hirst family has been "Pensacola Proud" since 1982 when George and Linda moved their family of four here from Philadelphia. While living in Philadelphia, George began his career in the automotive industry by taking classes at the Spring Garden Institute first. This is a private technical college whose programs have been accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). He then pursued further education at the Automotive Training Center in Exton, PA (established in 1917), which specializes in technician training for the automotive and marine service industries.

After completing his education, George joined the transmission industry as a repair technician for a major automotive repair chain. He soon transitioned from a technician to transmission rebuilder. George also served as a hotline technician, where he was responsible for assisting fellow rebuilders around the country with troubleshooting and problem solving.

Coming from meager beginnings in a big city, George and Linda longed for a better life and environment for their small children. When looking to transfer, George was given the option of moving to Pensacola. The Hirst family quickly fell in love with Pensacola's beautiful beaches and warm climate. Over the next 14 years, George developed his great reputation for quality and efficiency, becoming one of the most sought-after transmission rebuilders in the area.

In 1996, George's reputation made it possible to open Hirst Transmission Specialists. From day one, Linda has filled many positions within the company, including accounts payable, customer service liaison, payroll, and accounts receivable. Stephen started as a technician and moved up to general manager. For over two decades, the Hirst family has been proudly serving the Pensacola, Gulf Breeze, and Pace areas of Florida, becoming one of the most respected transmission facilities in the Southeast.
